My Webdev Journey
Friday 3 June 2022
Hello and welcome to my first blog. In this blog I'll be sharing my experience of approximately 500+ hours of doing web development. It's not much but I hope it'll help newer people :)
I started doing web development just recently on the end of the 2021. But while I started then, I have some few problems that I face.
When I first started coding, I was full of passion on learning how to code. But of course weeks after that I got bored. Because of that I have sometimes when I skipped learning and do some game. 500+ hours is around 20 days, almost one month. To be honest I can say I spent more then 500+ hours but the reason I didn't mention the other hours is because I'm stuck.
Now where am I stuck at? First, I got stuck at tutorial hell. I didn't know what to do or if I'm going the right direction. All I do is just watch tutorial over and over again without putting my time on putting the skills I learned to work. This is a beginner mistake. Second, I have no roadmap. Because of that I didn't know where to go or if I'm going the right direction. Third, the passion to code dissapear slowly.
For the first problem, all I do is stop watching tutorials and start making instead. Doesn't matter how good it is, just implement it into something. For example, I made my first portfolio website using Bootstrap 5. It's not 100% all me, if anything I only do 95% of the website. But none the less, it's fine because I understand how things work. Or you can also use Frontend Mentor to find projects if you got no idea what to do.
For the second problem, search for a roadmap. Doesn't matter who's roadmap you follow, just pick one and stick with that. Here are some of my recommendations:
For the third one, I'll be honest. I don't know. I just stop and continue and repeat. By doing this I won't get bored on coding because I spend 24/7 on it and I also have time to do other stuff like playing games or do other stuff.
These are some helpful resources that helped me:
With all of that said, I hope this article help you guys even a little bit. And with that said, happy coding :)
